Okeke and MIDH Sign Contract for Restoration of Philip Goldson Bust
The restoration of the Philip Goldson bust will take place. This morning, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing signed the contract worth ten thousand dollars with Stephen Okeke. In our interview with Okeke on Tuesday on the repairs and restorative work he has to do, he indicated that it would take roughly sixty days to complete the work, but the contract gives him forty-five days within which to hand over the refurbished Philip Goldson bust to be mounted. Okeke had indicated that the monument needs to undergo a series of tests to determine how severely it was damaged. Today, the ministry indicated that the bust has suffered cracks and fissures in the interior and the exterior. This was after a taxi van ran into the bust early on the morning of September ninth, when the J’ouvert was about to begin.
