PM Briceño to Alan Pollard, “There’s a time for everything.”
Prime Minister John Briceño has also weighed in on the situation involving Deputy Mayor Pollard. It is an interesting scenario as, on the one hand, the party is appealing to younger candidates to participate in governance, but on the other, Pollard is essentially being told to wait his turn.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“I think that Alan has tremendous, he has a very bright future and tremendous talent and a very sincere young man that really wants to do a difference in his community, in particular the south side of Belize City. He is a shining example of a young person that if determined, he could make things happen. My, and also to correct the record, you are hardly wrong, but you are wrong. The first time I ran in 1993, I ran as an area representative. Then in 1994, for some reason, they convinced me to go and run for the municipal. The UDP buss wi all over the country but we win in Orange Walk. We won three and I topped the pole, so I did well. But the point is that there is a time for everything and I think that the young man in whichever position that we put him, he will do well and I’ll just tell him, my recommendation to him is just sit back and think things through as to what are your real objectives, what are your long-term objectives and do not lose sight of that.”
