Mahogany Heights Family Charged For Marijuana Found in Home
Also in Mahogany Heights Village, a family of four was busted with forty-one grams of marijuana. On Wednesday, police visited the home of Stephanie Copious and executed a search warrant for drugs and illegal firearms. During the search of the kitchen area, police say they came upon a strong aroma of marijuana coming from a green oats container. When the container was opened a bag was found inside with seventeen small parcels of cannabis. This afternoon, Stephanie Copious, her common-law husband, fifty-eight-year-old, Collin Calvin Clother, thirty-year-old, Ivor Thurton and Wayne Garbutt, were arraigned before a Senior Magistrate. They were jointly read a count each of possession of a controlled drug. Thurton took ownership of the marijuana and asked for leniency and for a fine. The Senior Magistrate imposed a non-custodial sentence and fined Thurton three hundred dollars, plus five dollars cost of court. He has until November thirtieth to pay. If he defaults, he could face two months imprisonment.
