…And another officer escapes gunshots

While one San Ignacio cop is facing charges of Attempted Rape, a shooting incident involving two Belize City Officers on Sunday night is still up in the air. Police Constable, Adolph Navarro made an official report to the Patrol Branch Unit that he was shot at Sunday night by P.C. Adrian Lopez, a colleague from the Gang Unit of the police department. While no charges have been levied against Lopez, the department is investigating the report. Navarro claims he was driving his car on Central American Boulevard, heading in the direction of Shell One Stop Gas Station when several shots were fired at him from a vehicle coming in the same direction. Navarro says he sped off and when in the area of the Princess Hotel parking lot, a female Police Constable, who was on duty at Club Next, came to his aid. After an altercation at the hotel lobby Navarro was taken to the Queen Street Police Station. The motive for the shooting is uncertain.
