An Update on Investigation into Immigration Officer
Foreign Minister Eamon Courtenay gave brief comments to the media today about the investigation on immigration officer Sheree Flores for whom a video of her cutting up a white substance, believed to be cocaine, went viral on social media. Flores has said, through her attorney, that there are persons attempting to tarnish her reputation. Today, FM Courtenay says that for him, her actions are unacceptable, but the decision is up to the Public Services Commission which has the final say.
Eamon Courtenay, Minister of Foreign Affairs
“That is a matter for the public services commission. I believe that the reports have been laid before them and it is a matter that that process has to unfold. It is being investigated and there is disciplinary proceedings that are to be taking place and that’s as best as I can say. There will be no political interference either way in that matter. As I said before, what I say was unacceptable to me but it is for the Publci Service Commission to deal with that.”
Duane Moody
“I believe she is saying that there is an attack on her because she was about to disclose improprieties, I guess, within the department.”
Eamon Courtenay
“Right. If that is so, then she should disclose it. She should disclose it to me or anybody else. There is no connection between disclosing and what I saw on that video. If she sees irregularities she should share it with the police or share it with me and I will share it with the police.”
