Perez Present in House Amidst Investigation

Former Minister of Blue Economy Andre Perez was present at Friday’s House Meeting, carrying out his duties as Area Representative for Belize Rural South. But, there is no recent update on the investigation into allegations of sexual assault and threat against him.  When we interviewed the Attorney General, Anthony Sylvestre in September, one month after Perez requested a leave of absence; he informed reporters that the investigation would be completed within a month. Well, Thursday will make exactly one month since that conversation and there is still no word on the investigation’s outcome. Perez appeared unfazed by the cloud of scandal over his head, as he contributed to several debates in the House. The media did not get an opportunity to speak with Perez. We will continue to follow this one.
