Corozal Businessman Comes Under Gunfire
In Corozal yesterday, a storeowner also escaped injury when he sensed that someone approaching him inside his place of business was there to harm him. Kumar Vian made a run for it when an individual whose face was concealed entered the premises. As quickly as he dashed to safety, a single shot was fired in his direction. Here’s more from the Belize Police Department.
ACP Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander, Eastern Division
“On Sunday, October fifteenth, Kumar Vian reported that he was at his store, Reyes Store in Corozal when he saw a suspicious male person approaching. He got frightened and he ran off after which he heard a bang that sounded like a gunshot and he ran towards the police station where he made a report. Police responded and one expended shell was found in the area. He was not injured and we do not have any suspect at this time.”

“I couldn’t understand what it was… was it like a foiled [robbery]?”
Hilberto Romero
“Yes, he reported that he saw the male person approaching and the person had his face tied with a rag and so he got suspicious and he ran off.”
