BELAIFA Celebrates Insurance Awareness Month with Health Fair

The Belize Association of Insurance and Financial Advisor is celebrating Insurance Awareness Month in October. The NGO has forty-five members from across four companies.  Today, they hosted a health fair in downtown Belize City to promote financial literacy and physical health. Representatives from two financial institutions, as well as the Ministry of Health, were present at the event.

“All of us come together and we work to improve the industry, making the best for the industry. And so, our primary function is promote the awareness of financial literacy and of course health living. So, for the month of October we are celebrating insurance awareness month. So, we have had several activities. Today what we are doing is a financial health and wellness fair where we have the Ministry for Health with us. They are doing blood pressure testing, sugar testing. Then on the financial side we have St. John’s Credit Union talking about their saving. Then we have the Belize Bank out here with us, just trying to give as full scope for everything. Whenever you build your house, you want a strong house, you have to build a strong foundation. That is what insurance does for your financial plan. It is the foundation, the what-if, the safety net. In terms of giving, sitting with an insurance provider doesn’t mean you have to buy anything. It is nto transaction based anymore. As much as the consumer has evolved so has insurance. So when we sit down it is more about what are your goals over the next three to five years, what do you want to achieve. Where are you now?”
