Tourism CEO Expresses Concerns About Deadly Island Shooting

This afternoon, Tourism C.E.O. Nicole Usher-Solano also expressed concerns in the wake of the deadly attack in San Pedro.  The island town is a prime tourism destination in Belize and incidents like this do have an adverse effect on tourism and citizen security.

“It’s an extremely sad situation, you know, I know it saddens all of us when we hear news like that, it doesn’t matter whether it’s not a tourism matter, it’s a national matter and safety and security is a national matter for us.  Whenever there’s an incident like this, and condolences to the families, it’s a very sad situation that affects all of us.  News is not just, you  know, local.  The news is global and we have to do everything we can to focus on safety and security and protection for our citizens and that translates into the tourism industry as well.”
