Assad Shoman Says Hamas is Not a Terrorist Organization
The Israel-Hamas war continues on the other side of the world. According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, the number of Palestinians killed in Gaza since Hamas attacked Israel on October seventh has surpassed ten thousand. Israeli air attack damaged the solar panel roof of Gaza’s largest hospital, as officials say medical services across the Strip are on the brink of collapse. Israel’s military is now advancing toward Gaza City. A four-hour evacuation window for civilians was opened on Sunday. Leaders of United Nations agencies and humanitarian organizations have issued a joint statement calling for an immediate humanitarian cease fire. Belize has done the same with Prime Minister John Briceño condemning random bombings being carried out by the Israeli Government. Former Foreign Minister Assad Shoman, appeared on Open Your Eyes this morning to speak on the Israel-Hamas war. One of the points that Shoman made was that Hamas is not a terrorist organization but a liberation movement.
Assad Shoman, Former Attorney General
“What is happening in Gaza is exactly the same. That too is a concentration camp which is why my parents who were in different concentration camps would never condemn people for breaking out and trying to become free. So that, we have to understand Hamas is not a terrorist organization. Hamas is a liberation movement. Hamas is a resistance. In fact, the word means “resistance” in the language. It is a resistance movement against a very brutal colonialism. I mean you will have to search deep to find a colonialism that have been more brutal than that. I guess the British in India. Certainly the Belgiums in the Congo where they ended up killing eight million people. More than what Hitler killed, but we don’t hear about that because they were Africans.”
