Family of Farah Bonner Says Deadly Stabbing was Self-Defense
Fifty-two-year-old Dean Halliday was fatally stabbed by Feleecia Kerr, the daughter of his common-law wife, on Saturday evening. The deadly incident occurred in Maxboro where the Belize City resident had visited the home of Farah Bonner, reportedly unannounced and uninvited. While there an altercation ensued between Halliday and Bonner during which the mechanic allegedly inflicted several stab wounds to Bonner’s neck. Her daughter came to her aid, but the scuffle continued. That’s when Kerr also produced a knife and stabbed Halliday, mortally wounding him. The incident is being investigated by the Belize Police Department and so far, there has been no word of an arrest or directives as to whether or not charges should be preferred on Kerr. According to Bonner’s sibling, who has spoken with News Five off record, the family believes that it was a case of self-defense. That individual has since provided us with surveillance footage of Halliday arriving at the property and jumping the fence. It also shows the mother and her daughter leaving the residence before returning home. What has also been disclosed is that there was a restraining order that had been taken out against Halliday by Bonner, and that the couple had been going through a rough patch leading up to the tragic encounter. Bonner’s family attributes the unfortunate ordeal to Halliday’s addiction to alcohol. However, Halliday’s relatives say that despite his habit, he was never violent towards Bonner.

“He would usually get intoxicated and he would have points where he would get upset and start cursing, but not to the point where he is abusive. So that was very devastating to me and to the other family members who were up there and saw what happened.”

“Perhaps you can describe the relationship that your uncle had with his common-law wife, how long they were together and what have you?”
Nephew of Deceased
“Up to the time that they left from here, I thought they were quite fine, they were quite good because they were laughing. We would sit down together, all of us, and we would talk and stuff because he was living at home and she would be there with us during the week and weekends they would go home. So I don’t know what took place, what altercation actually happened between that time that they left and went up there.”

“What have you guys heard from the police department.”

“Personally, I haven’t heard anything much but my other uncle, he’s the one who has immediate contact with them and they supposed to be doing the autopsy sometime tomorrow and then from there we move on and proceed with the burial and stuff.”
