What will Police Department do About Integrity Commission Files?

When we caught up with ComPol Williams this evening, he was also asked about the latest developments with the files that are yet to be turned over to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

“That process goes through the chair of the Integrity Commission and the chair would normally put together the files and it goes to the DPP where a determination is made and whatever determination the DPP makes or directives then comes to the police for action.  So we cannot act without the instructions coming from the DPP and the DPP cannot act without the information coming from the chair of the commission.”

“At least in your term, this hasn’t happened as yet, right?”

Chester Williams

“No. I know there were attempts before but it didn’t go anywhere.”

Reporter

“So it would have to be a case where you would have to bring in FIU or you would expect that the Integrity Commission would already have its ducks lined up in a row.”

Chester Williams

“I don’t think it’s a matter that has to do with the FIU per se, it’s more the chair of the Integrity Commission that would refer the matter to the DPP and the DPP should see that it’s an FIU matter then she would forward the information to them or if it’s a police matter then she directs it to the police.”
