B.D.F Soldier to Be Dealt With Over Misplaced Weapon

Brig. Gen. Azariel Loria

It’s been a month since a high-powered B.D.F. rifle was reported missing in the vicinity of the Xunantunich archaeological site in Cayo District and it seems to have made its way across the western border. The officer who was left in charge of the weapon remains on active duty at Price Barracks, but B.D.F. Commandant, Azariel Loria says that as soon as the investigation is complete on that matter, the soldier will be dealt with, and it could be within the coming days. Meanwhile, there’s been talk that someone who is reportedly in possession of the rifle wanted to sell it back to the B.D.F., but Loria said those talks broke down.

Brigadier-General Azariel Loria, Commandant, B.D.F.

“We have since handed over the keys to the police department. We, tried to track the weapon from our sources and we tracked it and it was somewhere in Guatemala, and we were notified that it’s a rifle that went missing by the police department. So we provided our statements to them, and they took it from there. The investigation is being done. And as I mentioned, he is on active duty up to now, but whenever we get the necessary paperwork, we’ll see what to do. But I think that based on what we have – that the weapon went missing and that we know in this case that he is a culprit, something will have to happen and, and it’ll happen like in the coming days.”

“Weren’t there talks indeed, you know, to try and buy back the weapon, because it was in the hands of nefarious elements or it is in the hands, and man want mek a lee money. I heard it was offered back to the BDF for a few thousand dollars.”

Brigadier-General Azariel Loria

“The investigation that we were conducting, our sources there were talking to them. We spoke about it and we said it is just like when you’re dealing with terrorists, you may or may not negotiate with a terrorist, but that’s an avenue of approach that you could do. And we decided, because this has international ramifications and consequences, we will not do that way and we left it at that.”
