David Gonzales Found Guilty of Murdering His Wife
San Pedro resident David Gonzales has been found guilty of murdering his wife, Marisela Gonzales. Marisela’s semi-nude body was discovered at a dumpsite in San Pedro Town in October 2020, with evidence pointing to Gonzales as the perpetrator. The court ruled that Gonzales fatally shot his wife, disposed of her body, and fabricated a false account of events. A key witness, a businessman who had worked with Gonzales, testified that Gonzales confessed to the murder. Marisela’s family, who described Gonzales as jealous and abusive, expressed relief at the court’s decision. Hipolito Novelo reports.

Thirty-two-year-old San Pedro resident David Gonzales is a murderer. That was established as fact today when the court found him guilty of killing his wife, twenty-eight-year-old Marisela Gonzales.

“I just said thank God because it’s been so difficult for me. I am so thankful the judge came out with this decision. I know that my niece will be living a better life without him. I am just thankful for this.”
Marisela’s semi-nude body was found on October 12th, 2020 at a dumpsite in San Pedro Town. She had been shot to the head. She was last seen in the company of Gonzales.

“Well the husband is the owner of a firearm, a licensed holder. We suspect the possibility that it might be that firearm that was used.”
That possibility is now the reality. Gonzales fatally shot his wife, dragged her body and dumped it at a garbage site. He then returned home, disposed of his bloody clothes before going to bed. He told investigators that he had no idea what happened to his wife. The couple, along with their daughter, was at Secret beach the night before. He says that Marisela was drunk and on their way back to their house, they had an argument about infidelity. He also claimed that Marisela returned to Secret Beach. He says he never saw her again.
The court ruled today that Gonzales, beyond a reasonable doubt, murdered his wife. A key witness for the prosecution was a businessman from Sandhill, who worked with Gonzales for about six years. He testified that he got a distress call from Gonzales who said “I just killed my wife”. It’s something that Marisela’s family always knew and today, they got the confirmation they needed. Marisela’s sister, Myra Guzman, was in court this morning. She testified during the trial, telling the court that Gonzales was jealous, controlling and abusive towards her sister. She says she is now happy that the daughter that Marisela and Gonzales shared, now six years old, will be away from a murderer.

“It’s not been easy for any of us, especially my mom. Even his daughter went through some rough time. I think she is better at this point. I am just glad that she is going to be away from him for a good one. She saw everything that happened to her mom, so she has good understanding of that. So doesn’t ask much question but she is good.”
Gonzales was represented by attorney Oscar Selgado. Sentencing was deferred. Reporting for News Five, I am Hipolito Novelo
