2 tourists robbed and stabbed in Caye Caulker
A Caye Caulker man was today remanded into custody for a robbery in which two vacationing women were injured on Monday. The two Canadian tourists, Valerie Walker and Sofia Stefanio, reported to police that around three-forty-five that afternoon, they were in the south end of the island when a man armed with a machete and knife approached and robbed them of their monies. Their nightmare did not end there and the robber stabbed both of them in the neck. The injuries were not fatal and Walker was treated and released. But in the case of Stefanio, she was admitted to Belize Healthcare Partners under serious but stable condition. The assailant was twenty-two year old Aaron Adolphus of New Site Area in Caye Caulker who appeared in court today and was slapped with eight offences: two counts each of Robbery, Dangerous Harm, Deadly Means of Harm and Attempted Murder. Adolphus is scheduled to return for trial on March fourth.
