Belize City Fire Victim Needs Your Help

A fire engulfed two wooden structures near Arlington Drive in Belize City on Friday morning.  The fire completely destroyed the two buildings; one was a two bedroom house belonging to thirty-nine-year-old Marlon Usher. Usher had already left for work when the fire broke out. Ever since the incident, Usher has been trying to get back on his feet and today he stopped by our office to ask for your help.

“Well I was down at work and then when I come to evening they tell me my house was burned down and then from the end of the day up to now I still try to find result why my house get burned down or why people  burn it down or what, you understand? I don’t know the situation, so I just to try ask the community for a little hand to start back.”

“You believe it was arson?”

 

Marlon Usher

“More or less I believe it was arson or could be an electrical problem, I don’t know. I just to try figure it out, you dig?. The only thing I could say, I can’t save it or I can’t do nothing, so I just have to try and go through it. I feel a way, I feel bad and all that, you dig? Cause I lose everything where I done work and achieve.”

“What are some of the things that you lost?”

 

Marlon Usher

“I lost everything. Bed, refrigerator, stove, all the house appliance. Well, I just try to out here, I still work on things. I try to build myself still, you dig? I don’t can’t broke down, you know this. I have to stay strong. So I just try to start all over again.”

“And then if people hearing you, how can they help you? What do you need for you to get back on your feet?”

Marlon Usher

“I would need clothes. I would need any financial assistance. A land or something, or board or something, you dig, to start back.”
