U.D.P. Condemns PM Briceño’s Judicial Interference
A legal challenge is presently before the Chief Magistrate regarding a residential address in Mesopotamia provided by the Leader of the Opposition. We have been reporting on the progress of this matter in the lower court. But recently, things have spilled outside of the courtroom and into the street where Prime Minister John Briceño has also commented on the matter. Earlier today, the United Democratic Party fired off a release condemning PM Briceño’s statement as judicial interference. The release from the U.D.P. goes on to say, “he offered no evidence or facts to support his bald statement, because there is no evidence to contradict the registering officer who did her due diligence and found the Opposition Leader met the requirements under the law to transfer into the Mesopotamia Division. The objection to the registering officer’s decision is nothing more than a political witch hunt and distraction tactic by the P.U.P. from the highest cost of living, social security and other corruption scandals. What Prime Minister Briceño did last night is highly improper, outrageous and possibly illegal as well as contempt of court. He has no authority and no right to disrespect the court process and make such untrue statements of the specific issue in front of the court”.
