DIGI to Offer 5G Service

Mark Lizarraga

DIGI became the first mobile operator to introduce the eSIMS to the local market. For the next fiscal year, BTL is looking toward artificial intelligence. It says that AI is another major trend in 2023, as it can detect network issues, perform self-repairs and safeguard networks from fraudulent activities. Board Chairman, Mark Lizarraga says the company is also preparing to offer fifth generation (5G) service.

“The new equipment that has been purchased or that we’re purchasing, we continue to expand and upgrade. And as we seek to improve better coverage, the new equipment that we’re getting in can cover from 2G to 5G. In other words, what the manufacturers have done, instead of having a separate antenna for two G, separate antenna for three G, separate antenna for four GLTE and five G, they’ve, they’ve compacted and put all of that capacity into one antenna because level, unlimited space on  the antenna. So now our equipment that we’re ordering has the capacity to go from two G to five G.”
