Shyne Barrow Criticizes G.O.B. for High Cost of Living
The increase in the cost of groceries and other items has been a pressing issue for the government, which formed a committee to look into what measures can be taken to ease the burden that the global inflation has on Belize. Prime Minister John Briceño had pointed out that Belize, which is a country that imports most of the food we eat, also imports the added costs attached to those items. But Leader of the Opposition, Moses Shyne Barrow opined on Wednesday that the government has no tangible plan to effectively deal with the high cost of living in Belize.

“Every month, the Statistical Institute of Belize puts out the list of the goods that continue to increase exponentially. And there is no solution by the government. There is no plan to say we will ease you here, we will ease you there. They put those cabinet releases that say we are studying the matter. We have a sub cabinet subcommittee and a committee for that subcommittee. And we have yet to return to the Belizean people with any viable solution to be implemented to ease their pain.”
