DPP orders release of woman accused in husband’s death
But in Tuesday morning’s murder of Albert Morgan, his wife, a mother of four has been released from police custody. Audrey Morgan was being questioned as the prime suspect in the killing of her husband, who was stabbed on the chest with a butcher knife. His body was discovered on the steps of their home after the murder that no one heard or expected. Audrey was detained and initially told police that a man stormed into their home and killed her husband. But she later changed the story and said she stabbed him in self defense. Relatives of Albert were shocked at that allegation because the couple was not known to have domestic issues. Late this evening, Audrey was released at the instructions of the Director of Public Prosecutions, who found that she acted in self-defense. This now means that in respect of the statistics, we revert to ninety-two.
