Zelaya “Bedsore Specialist” Receives a Home For Christmas
To some, he is Jose Zelaya, but to many he is known as “The Bedsore Specialist”. Jose Zelaya made waves this year for becoming the man with the hands for healing bedsores, travelling all over the country to care for people suffering from the ailment. This time, however, Zelaya is once again on the receiving end of public assistance after donations poured in from all over the country to help mend Zelaya’s home that had been in disrepair since hurricane Lisa and a fire that destroyed it. Through the help of Ladyville Highlights, Zelaya and his son will have a roof over their heads for Christmas.

“So what is it that you do at Ladyville Highlights?”
“We do a lot. We do assistance for persons who are suffering from various medical issues. We do assistance with kids with their education, with schools. And then one of the things we do every month, we do two village giveaways. Whereby we go to the villages and we give away free clothing, free groceries, free footwear. Anybody can have it, no matter what church you belong to or what political party you belong to. We assist the poor free of cost”

“How are you acquainted with Mr. Zelaya?”
Albert Magdaleno
“Mr. Zelaya was also a recipient of Ladyville highlights. He used to come to us for pampers for his son, for gauze to bandage his bedsore and one day he showed me his son and how he healed his son’s bedsore. And I said, if you can do that for your son, then there are so many people suffering from bedsore also, who we can give them the help to. And so he came on board in March of this year, and the rest is history.”

“Why are you known as the bed sore specialist?”
Jose Zelaya, Bedsore Specialist
“I go about, go tend to the youths that were paralyzed from gun violence and suffer from bedsores. And also the senior citizens that were bedridden, asthma, cancer patients were bedridden, patients with HIV were bedridden that have bedsores.”

“How did you start doing this?”
Jose Zelaya, Bedsore Specialist
“Sad for what I’ll say, right? It’s sad that it took my son for my son to take five shots and end up with bedsore for me to started to do this service to people who were in need, right? Because my son got shot five times. And he had a serious bed sore. He had a bed sore [this] big. If I had my phone, I’d show you. And I bring him home. If he stayed in the hospital, he’d be dead. I bring my son home and I ask God to show me how to do it and thank the father just everyday he just give me knowledge to make I learn how to clean it, deal with it, dress it. And thanks to the father, the donors and women that support me and help me with things there, I manage to get my son bedsore, dry up, and get my son back. Five years ago, like one month after my son get shot, they burned down my house. And, me and him probably homeless from then, we were knocking about . It was so hard for me because I couldn’t pay rent due to having to take care of my son, so they used to put me from house to house with them, they put me out of. So when I get one little spot me and him there and, with the blessing of God, mister Albert Magdaleno, Ladyville Highlights, Youth Service, all the donors from abroad and home, they managed to help me with funds and I managed to build a home, a nice house. I comforted my son in a decent room, because it wasn’t humane for him, how we lived. But with the blessing of God, I managed to build one upstairs for my son, furnish it, have it well nice up for him, conditioned. And also, with the blessing I get a new house this Christmas, I feel good and I thank everybody because We last five years, water the wet we, breeze blow up on we when it cold, water come from the top, water from the bottom. So, I give thanks again to Mr. Albert Magdaleno, his wife, Miss Fiona, Mr. Ashton Sanders, all the donors from home and abroad who make it possible. The house now fully finished, but the roofing, the flooring, so I give thanks for it.”
