Hildebrandt Codd Remains on the Lam

Thirty-six-year-old Hildebrandt Codd remains on the lam. He was convicted in absentia of the murder of Densmore Bowman, earlier this month. That’s because Codd escaped from lawful custody moments before the verdict was handed down. He has yet to be located, but investigators believe that he is hiding in Belmopan and is being assisted by family and friends. Tonight, Police Commissioner Chester Williams is sending a strong warning to those persons helping Codd avoid the law.

“I am still hopeful that the young man would surrender himself to the police or that his family members are going to encourage him to surrender to the police. We do get information that he’s somewhere in the Belmopan area and maybe facilitated by some people. I want to sound it clear that harboring a fugitive is an offense and it is punishable with imprisonment. If we were to find Hilderbrandt Codd in the company of anybody, or if we were to have evidence that anybody were facilitating him during the time that he escaped, we will ensure that we prosecute that person to the full extent of the law. So, again, just to sound a warning, if the family members know where he is, I am asking them to please ask him to surrender himself to the police and we go from there.”
