Franks Eddy Villager Loses Life in Hummingbird Highway RTA
The third fatal road traffic accident over the weekend happened on the Hummingbird Highway, at mile fifty-three. On Sunday morning, Franks Eddy Village residents, thirty-one-year-old Elifar Vasquez and thirty-eight-year-old Moises Perez were inside a Nissan pickup, heading toward Belmopan, when their vehicle collided into a Ford F-150 pickup. Perez died from the impact. The F-150 was being driven by forty-four-year-old Omar Cawich. Police told us more.

“On Sunday, the fourteenth day of January, 2024, police responded to a fatal road traffic accident at mile fifty-three on the Hummingbird Highway, upon their arrival they saw a Nissan pickup truck and a Ford F-150 pickup extensively damaged. Inside the Nissan were Elifar Vasquez and Moises Perez. And the F-150 truck was being driven my Omar Cawich. Investigation reveals that they collided at the said location, which resulted in fatal injuries to Moises Perez. And investigation was carried out into this report and Omar Cawich has since been charged with Manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention. He was taken to court today.”
