Belize’s Ocean Wealth Estimated at $1 Billion Annually

Belize has not yet engaged in mapping its ocean’s wealth, but the Blue Bond team that addressed the media today explained that there is an estimated one billion dollars annually that can benefit the tourism, fisheries and related sectors through the wealth of our oceans.

“We haven’t looked specifically at doing that here in Belize at this point in time, but if we had the resources, it’s definitely something we would like to do. Eventually the idea is that we’re able to map the wealth of the oceans across the entire globe, but it’s not specific to the Blue Bonds program and it’s something that we will be able to do in the future.”
