Homeless man sentenced to 6 years for stealing M&M’s
Forty six year old Floyd Budd, who says he is homeless and cannot feed himself, was sentenced to six years in prison for burglarizing the Valumed Phamacy. When he appeared in front of Magistrate Sharon Frazer this morning, Budd also said he thinks jail is the best place for him because he will have three meals for the day. Police say that when they arrived at the pharmacy at about five o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, they found that the business had been broken into. The burglary suspect was surprised with a blue and grey knapsack in his possession which contained M&M’s chocolates valued at sixty-eight dollars and a pack of Skittles valued at two dollars. Owner of the pharmacy, Isabel Nisbet, told police that when she closed on Monday, she left the business properly secured. This is not Budd’s first brush with the law. In September 2006, he was charged with handling stolen goods and fined one thousand five hundred dollars. The court records show he never made a payment and Budd told the court that he had chosen to spend the ten month jail term after being imposed the fine.
