Belize City Car Dealer Being Sought After Shady Transaction
A well-known car dealer is reportedly being sought by police regarding a report made against him by a medical doctor who purchased a vehicle from him in April 2023. According to a statement given to police, thirty-seven-year-old Dimas Sansorez, a resident of Caye Caulker, visited Prestige Motors where he purportedly paid businessman Amado Badillo sixty-five thousand dollars for a 2020 Ford Ranger pickup. The payments were reportedly made in two installments, the first was a wire transfer in the sum of thirty-five thousand dollars and the second payment was in cash on April twentieth, 2023. Doctor Sansorez told police in his statement that when it came time to do the transfer, he was given an excuse by the proprietor of the dealership. The initial reason given was that the vehicle needed to be detailed and that a few minor mechanical issues had to be fixed. But after several attempts to get the vehicle, Badillo reportedly told the customer that the vehicle was no longer in his possession and that another vehicle of the same brand and model would be purchased immediately. Since then, Doctor Sansorez has reportedly been after Badillo to return the money that was paid for the vehicle. In his statement, Sansorez wrote, (quote), to date Mister Badillo has not given me a vehicle, has not shown me proof that he has purchased that vehicle, nor has he returned my money. I am now certain that Mr. Badillo intends to permanently deprive me of my money. I hereby request court action, (end quote.”)
