Soft Opening of New Haulover Bridge on February 1st

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing has announced that the new Haulover Bridge will be opened to vehicular traffic on Thursday, February first. A release from the ministry noted that works are not entirely complete, however the temporary opening is necessary to complete the tie-in of the new alignment to the Philip Goldson Highway and to facilitate necessary upgrades to underground public utility infrastructure. The release further noted that pedestrians will not be allowed to access the new bridge as the safety hand railing is not fully installed. Motorists are also being advised that there will be no overtaking on the bridge or its approaches. The new roundabout on the north approach to the Haulover Bridge will also be opened to vehicular traffic, even though minor concrete works are still pending. Full completion and inauguration of the new Haulover Bridge is expected by mid-March.
