Update on Draft Maya Customary Land Tenure Policy
The Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs has issued an update on the draft Maya Customary Land Tenure. The Government of Belize is inviting dialogue and says that it is prepared to discuss key aspects of the draft Maya Customary Land Tenure Policy, particularly paragraph five. As we’ve reported, the section of the document has been met with strong objection from the Toledo Alcaldes Association and the Maya Leaders Alliance.
