Vehicle Crashes Into Home and Kills Dangriga Man

Kenrick Castillo

A forty-six-year-old Dangriga resident is dead after an SUV crashed into his home. Kenrick Castillo was inside his home on Wednesday night when tragedy struck. A black Jeep with two occupants was allegedly speeding on the highway when the driver lost control of the vehicle. As a result the men reportedly swerved off the highway and crashed into Castillo’s home. He was inside the house at the time. The impact caused his concrete structure to crumble unto him. His relatives and neighbors had to dig his motionless body out of the rubble. Residents who came out immediately following the accident reportedly held the two occupants of the vehicle until police arrived on the scene. Reports are that the men were heavily intoxicated. We spoke with one eyewitness over the phone, Devin Bermudez, the nephew of Kenrick Castillo. Here is what he told us.

Voice of: Devin Bermudez, Cousin of Deceased

“I watched on the south side, the car is coming from the south side on the terminal side and when the car is coming from the terminal side it is coming in a ball of speed. Like speed, speed, speed. When the car jumped the Havanna bridge it lost control. When it lost control the care swerved on the right left hand and then on the right and swerved straight into my cousin’s house and that is where the accident happened. My cousin really got, it hurt me up to now. I cant say it. On the spot he dead and when the car brushed everything it ended back up on the street. After it knocked down the whole house it ended back on the street. When the car ended on the street, the driver wanted to start back the car. He wanted to do a hit and run, but the car didn’t want to start. So, he came out, both of them, because it was two boys in the car. They came out in the bottle, one run and one stayed. He come and tell us that I am the one that is driving.”
