Police corporal charged with bigamy for the second time
It is not a charge that makes it too often before the courts, but a police officer appeared in Magistrates’ Court on a charge of Bigamy for the second time. PC Jaime Pena was initially charged on December twenty-third, 2008 after he married Olga Guzman while Rubia Camara Pena was still his wife. Rubia was granted legal separation from Jaime in March of 2007, but they never divorced. So when she found that he wed a new bride in February of 2008, she went straight to the authorities. Jaime was freed of that charge, but his past came back to haunt him today. He was again arraigned for Bigamy as well as False Declaration for the Purpose of Marriage when he was taken before Chief Magistrate Margaret Gab McKenzie. Jaime, who was not represented by an attorney, was granted bail of five thousand dollars which he met this afternoon.
