Minor drowns in creek in Guinea Grass Village
There were no fatalities in Friday’s traffic incident, but a twelve year old boy reportedly drowned over the weekend. Officer Commanding the National Crimes Investigations Branch, Assistant Commissioner Miguel Segura, gave the details of the tragedy during a morning conference today.

“On Sunday in the northern section of Belize, Elias Vicente Reynoso, thirty-eight years. He reported that between two and two-thirty p.m. while he and his son, Emanuel Reynoso, fourteen years and another son, Alexander Reynoso, twelve years were on board a canoe at the Diane’s Creek, that’s the Richmond Hill Area, Guinea Grass. They were taking firewood in the canoe and suddenly the canoe capsized. Elias and Emanuel managed to swim to shore but, unfortunately, Alex disappeared under the water and did not resurface.”
Efforts are still underway to recover the body of Alexander Reynoso. Meanwhile, in the Stann Creek District, a man remains in police custody following a shooting. At around seven-fifteen on Sunday evening in Mullins River forty-three year old Mado Villafranco of Hope Creek was shot to the left side of his lower back. Villafranco was along with Aldis Coleman when the sixteen gauge shotgun that he was carrying reportedly went off. The injuries have been classified as grievous harm.
