Ghanaian national wins $60,000 lotto
A Ghanaian national left the Tropical Gaming office on Queen Street with a big smile and an even bigger cheque. Morise Jackson, an Assistant Manager at the Princess Hotel and Casino, bought the winning ticket in Saturday’s Lotto draw with lucky numbers: 02, 04, 17, 21 and 25. He had initially misplaced the ticket but a thorough search of his home, turned his luck around. The jackpot was at sixty thousand dollars and Jackson took home fifty-one thousand after taxes. And although he works at a casino, Jackson says his winnings will be put good use. News Five caught up him when he picked up his cheque and he told us how he chose the lucky numbers.

“And how do you normally select your numbers; through dreams or you would just do a quick pick?”
Morise Jackson
“Through dreams or through straight numbers; I always play with numbers.”

“So when did you find out that you had the winning numbers?”
Morise Jackson
“I was going to work on Monday when I saw the numbers written on the board, actually I was shock. I stood in the traffic watching the numbers and couldn’t believe these were the numbers I bought. So I went back home to look for the ticket then I found that I lost the ticket. I left it and went to work, telling everybody I won the lotto and I lost the ticket. When I went home yesterday, I turned my house upside down looking for the ticket then I found it in a dish.”

“What were your immediate thoughts when you thought you’d won?”
Morise Jackson
“Actually, my daughter.”

“And what are you going to do with the money?”
Morise Jackson
“Actually, it’s going towards my daughter’s education.”
Jackson’s daughter, eleven year old Ida, is a standard five student at Ebenezer Primary School.
It’s great! The man won the lotto, and the money will go towards his daughter’s education!
