Police recover fly-off lever from Caesar Ridge Road grenade
It is believed that the grenade blast early Monday morning was aimed at Andre Trapp, who resides on Caesar Ridge Road. Police are of the view that the grenade was hurled in that vicinity in the power play among rival gangs, one of which Trapp is said to be affiliated with. There were no fatalities or injuries but the blast did cause damage to property. No arrests have been made so far in the ongoing investigations, but police said today that there has been a significant development because the fly-off lever of the explosive weapon was handed in to them by Trapp. The police and B.D.F. confirmed that the grenade is indeed one of twenty-four stolen from the British Forces back in 2004. Seventeen others are still in the wrong hands.
Lt. Col. David Jones, Bomb Expert, B.D.F.
“Having looked at the fly off lever that was recovered, I personally have concluded that yes, that was the lever that was used in the grenade that was thrown on Caesar Ridge Road.”
Jules Vasquez, Channel Seven
“Okay, and what conclusions can you make about the type of grenade?”
Lt. Col. David Jones
“It is definitely one of the L109A1 British type grenade that was used in previous incidents at the Comptroller of Customs and also at the Kraal Road area. It is evident that what I had speculated earlier seems to be true in that after the grenade blast had gone off, someone passed in the area, picked it up and took it from the scene. It was mischievous. The lever is of no use to them, but the lever for myself and for the police, confirms what type of grenade actually was used in the incident.”
Crispin Jeffries, Commissioner of Police
“On the day of the blast, Jules, we visited the area and just about the time when I was about to leave the area, I spoke to some persons in the area and I offered them some financial reward if they assisted us. This morning I was called to say that the lever was found. I visited the area and it was handed to me. I spoke with Colonel Jones who confirmed some information to me. I later presented that lever to him and he is indicating that in fact that is a lever consistent with the type of grenade.”

“When it comes to the gangs, where are the relations? You’ve been meeting with them recently.; how is that coming along now?”
Crispin Jeffries
“This morning sometime between nine and ten o’clock I met with several persons and we set up a meeting and all indicated to me that they are interested and they will attend the meeting. We will keep the meetings going from my part and the CYDP part to see if we can get as much information and maintain some kind of control and peace.”
Trapp was paid three hundred dollars as a reward for the fly-off lever
