Four Hondurans plead guilty to Illegal Entry

It is difficult to keep up with illegal immigration because the borders of Belize are porous and the country is strategically located for those who want to head north. And on Wednesday, police caught up with several persons who were in the country illegally. While on mobile patrol at the Dump Settlement Area in the Toledo District, the cops spotted four men sitting under a bus shed. The officers conducted a spot check on the men who turned out to be Hondurans but did not have passports. Investigations then revealed that the men entered Belize via the Jalacte Village. As a result, eighteen year old Naham Leiva, twenty-six year old, Oscar Rene, twenty-eight year old Jose Amayo and fifty-three year old Pedro Castillo were escorted to the police station and handed over to immigration authorities. All four men were charged and pleaded guilty to Illegal Entry.
