Former couple charged for having illegal ammunition

Following a house search on Goal Lane in Belize City, a tour guide, Xiomara Ceballos, along with her ex-common-law-husband, Trevor Henkis, a Bartender, were arrested for live rounds of prohibited ammunition. Police say that in the search on Wednesday they found two live rounds of ammunition in Ceballos bedroom. The story gets interesting because police claim that during the raid, the accused sixteen and eighteen year old sons were at home and their names appear on the charge sheet. But when the matter came up in court, the two teenagers were not arraigned even though police said they had been arrested. There are reports, however, that the two were at school. This prompted the attorney Dickie Bradley to question the behavior of the Department. In his submission, Bradley noted that he has requested the office of the DPP to withdraw the charge. Both Ceballos and Henkis pleaded not guilty to the charge of Prohibited Ammunition and Bradley served notice that he will apply for bail to the Supreme Court. Until then, the duo has been remanded to Hattieville. It is also reported that Henkis was not present during the raid and that in fact he arrived later but police nabbed him when he said he lived at the house.
