No arrests in Thursday’s daring robbery/abduction
In an update to our lead story on Thursday night on a robbery that caused a five car pile up, a shootout and kidnapping… police say they continue their investigations but so far have made no arrests. Forty year old Sheng Wang Chen of Barrack Road, who was held by the band of robbers and had his vehicle used as the getaway car, returned safely home last night. According to Chen, the events unfolded quickly and after he heard shots, he recalled seeing a man pointing a gun in his direction. Chen says that the gunman forced himself into his vehicle parked in front of the Belize Elementary School and ordered him to drive to an area on Raccoon Street. Once there he exited the vehicle and made good their escape.
The incident occurred around three-thirty Thursday afternoon when four armed jackers robbed the Water Store at the roundabout on the northern highway. After fleeing in a Plymouth car to Coney Drive, they were pursued by one of the owners of the water store who sandwiched them in the heavy flow of traffic, causing the collision. No one was injured and the robbers fled to the other side of Belize City.
