Ghanaian national busted with Ethiopian passport

Lester Wugah
If you are found carrying another person’s passport without justifiable reason or permission you’re bound to get into trouble with the law. So when Ghanaian resident, thirty-six year old Lester Wugah, was found in possession of an Ethiopian passport belonging to Alavar Demissie Dibaba, the cops quickly made his appointment with Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb McKenzie. Wugah was charged for Possession of Dibaba’s passport and he initially pleaded guilty, but when he was asked if he understood the charged read to him, Wugah tried to explain why he had the passport. The Chief Magistrate stopped him, saying that they cannot go into details because the case is not on trial. At that time, Wugah requested that the charge be re-read after which he changed his plea to not guilty. Bail was denied after the prosecution pointed out that Wugah is a person of interest in a police investigation and that he is a flight risk because he is not a Belizean national. Wugah, who is a supervisor at Belize Western Energy Limited, will spend the next month not behind his desk, but behind bars at the Hattieville Prison.
