Medical bills mount and Janay’s family pleads for assistance

Cervantes says that while little Janay can’t move her leg or her left arm, she is responding well to the treatment.  She is expected to remain in the Intensive Care Unit at the Belize Healthcare Partners for another two days but she will need your prayers and financial help.  Although she’s only seven, she has been asking blunt questions about her condition and her aunt, Cadine Rhamdas, says it has been difficult to answer.

“Janay and my granddad were crossing the street at the middle of the pavement,. The gunshots rang out and he immediately grabbed her and tried to lay down on the ground when he heard Janay scream and it wasn’t a scream as though she was frightened it was a pain scream.  Janay is very up front, very intelligent child, like he said, and we try to refrain from answering those questions and be more positive, talking about her friends at school asking for her and the other kids at home asking for her and so forth.  Unfortunately, her mother doesn’t have insurance for Janay—well, not at this level of hospitalization and major medical. But at this time we have paid up twenty thousand and the bill continues to increase and we would want the public to assist in any way possible.
