Two charged for murder of Darrell Williams
But turning to one of the bloody murders at the beginning of the week, police have two persons for the murder of nineteen year old Darrel Williams Junior and injuries suffered by three persons including a young student. Twenty-one year old Phillip Wallace and a seventeen year old minor were escorted to Magistrates’ Court this afternoon where Wallace was read eleven charges while the seventeen year old was read ten offences. The two were additionally charged with the attempted murder of Robert Howard, seven year old Janay Moguel and her grandfather, sixty-four year old Steven Rhamdas. They also face charges of Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm upon the three victims. In Monday evening’s shooting at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Faber’s Road, Williams was hit once on the head by one of the many stray bullets that came his way. He was declared brain dead and was on life support for two days until his family decided to pull the plug on Wednesday because he was not responding to treatment. Moguel and Rhamdas were crossing the street when the gunfire erupted while Howard was grazed by one of the bullets, but never sought medical attention. Wallace and the minor are believed to be the two who rode into the area on bicycles and opened fire indiscriminately before riding off into Faber’s Road towards Excelsior High School. The Chief Magistrate ordered that the minor be remanded at the Belize Youth Hostel while Wallace was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until March tenth.
