Trigger happy gunman sprays bullets near gas station
Within three hours of the armed robbery at Carmen’s, more gunshots were heard when a trigger-happy man fired a barrage of bullets on Youth for the Future Drive. His target managed to escape the gunshots unscathed by throwing himself off his bicycle and onto the ground near the Texaco Gas Station. The area was crowded with students were heading home from school at about four-thirty. The gunman fled the scene and after the crowd dispersed, the employees of the gas station were still shaken by the incident, another example of the increasing disregard for human life in the violent streets. A witness, who did not wish to appear on camera out of fear, spoke to News Five about what he saw.

“I was passing by and I just hear shots rang out. I just saw a young boy just jump off his bike and a dread one just take off down the street across there under speed. We were all terrified, we took cover and so forth and seconds after a crowd came out.”
Isani Cayetano, Love TV
“How many shots did you hear fired?”

“You mentioned too that police took someone?”
Voice of: Witness to Shooting
“Yes, I saw police had a young man and his bicycle at the back. I believe he was the target. I just believe that these things need to stop now because it’s getting worse. Innocent people could have get shot just now, even me. Right now I’m talking to you guys but I’m very shaken and terrified right now. I believe it’s time for government and every one of us to take a stand and do something about it. We need to come together in unity and try to rectify this out. Like a person said, we need civilians also because the guys they know the police uniform and they know them from afar. So I believe more civilian on foot and so forth, it will kinda help and also with the people, we need to work together as one because without our help it won’t solve anything.”

I believe that since our police and military systems were set up by the British then the British need to come back to fix the systems or just anarchy will take over.
Keep British commanders in place the systems worked better under them.
I am with full support with MR. Harold Zuniga . Bring back the BRITISH COMMANDERS …ITS REALLY OUT OF HAND..
Harold you are so right, when we had one British COMMANDER in charge of each of dept.things was great, we had on in charge of the POLICE SPECIAL FORCE we had the country of BELIZE.
I beg to disagree. If the solution is a British Commander for the police and military – then what exactly is the problem? Are you saying that the problem is in fact the crime fighting organs of our country, as opposed to the criminals? Are you saying that the Belizean criminals or those involved in criminal activity in Belize will desist from their activities when faced with a British commander?
One of the major reasons why we are unable to adequately address the increase of violent crimes in Belize stems from our inability to identify the real problem. This for the main part has a lot to do with the fact that as a society we tend to clutch the notion that there is always a simple solution, to any/every problem. There is in fact a simple solution to every problem. The sad thing however, is that the simple solution seldom works for anything that requires more than a quick fix.
you all need to consider better training and up the level of education for those joining the police force
Mien, we still have that slave mentallity, ” bring back the british” , fu what. The british is responsible for making us the way we are, too humble and take crap from everybody eg. mr ministah. The british thought us how to be dependent, they gave us just enough to keep our mouth shut, this is the same method mr ministah the use.
It’s not that we have slave mentallity. those people in high places not puting common sense in action. It’s about greed, self-centered, the little bit of residual almighty dollars in that country. It’s about what i can get. I guest you have to been in the community to care. I hold the family principles responsible too. a strong family, make strong a society and strong nation. God bless these familys and leaders with wisdom.
