San Pedrana launches art exhibit at the Bliss
Windows to the Soul, that’s the way Melody Sanchez-Wolfe describes the eyes because she believes they tell the story of a person’s inner feelings. It is also the name of her art exhibit that is opening at the Bliss tonight. Wolfe hails from La Isla Bonita, San Pedro and brings with her a variety of artistic styles and unique images that bring life to the canvass. Her paintings are illustrations that she created and compiled since last year and until as recently as two days ago. According to Wolfe, it started with a job to paint a picture of a pair of eyes and that was followed by a second painting inspired by a captivating photograph. That set into motion a series of artwork on eyes and while the muses are many, there is one common factor in the images… feeling.

“Eyes just tell how people feel; they tell if they’re sad, if they’re happy and to me painting is how I express my emotions and I called it Windows to the Soul because the eyes really tell how a person is feeling. Sometimes I put on different types of music and I think that would owe it to how I feel because sometimes I don’t even want to use a paintbrush. I throw the paintbrush to one side and use only my hands. Sometimes I just use a paintbrush and sometimes I take things and glue it on to the canvass and then go with it. What inspires me? Different things; my moods, I’m very moody. My son inspires me because sometimes when he wants to paint and I want to paint we sit and paint together and fun stuff comes out. Come and enjoy good company and to meet the artist and two to get the story behind some of the paintings because some of the paintings have more than one meaning behind them. Some of them are over a broken heart or a love story or some of them are about fun; just having fun. Some of them are like the simplicity of life. I like do something where I just choose three colors and make a painting.”

The exhibit opens at seven tonight at the Bliss Centre for Performing Arts.

We are so proud of Melody and wish her all the best in her exhibit in the city. She is a very talented artist.
