Eighteen year old charged for two burglaries
In other news from the courts, a teenager is spending the night behind bars after he was remanded to the Hattieville Prison on two offences committed on the same day; Burglary and Attempted Burglary. Eighteen year-old Alex McKoy was denied bail since he had a previous offence to answer to. The recent incidents for which McKoy was remanded occurred on Monday afternoon. Forty-four year old Myrna Ferguson who lives in Belama Phase Three, said that she was in bed watching television when she heard a noise coming from her son’s bedroom. She said when she checked she saw a man cutting the burglar bars of the window with a hacksaw blade and another man sitting on her septic tank smoking cannabis. She said she shouted at the men and they ran. The burglary occurred shortly afterwards.
And Stephany Bowen, a resident of Belama Phase Three has also made a report to the police against McKoy. Bowen reported that her house was burglarized and several personal items were stolen. The police detained McKoy shortly afterwards and when they searched a bag he had in his possession, they found all the stolen items. McKoy will be remanded until February third.
