Some missing funds from City Council returned

It made big news earlier this week when three of its employees were detained pending investigations into more missing monies.  The news plunged City Hall deeper into scandal after the recent charges against Mayor Zenaida Moya Flowers and three members of her finance team last October.  But the forty-eight hours that the cops were entitled to hold the three employees from the Revenue and Valuation Department, expired before anything tangible could be brought against them.  The allegations are that up to sixty thousand dollars are missing from the city council’s funds.  The employees, clerks and cashiers, had been detained since Monday night when the City Administrator, Kiran Vanjani discovered that the Council’s financial system had been compromised.  Sixteen thousand dollars were handed back to City Hall and two of the three reportedly admitted responsibility for the missing funds.  But while charges have not been filed, it doesn’t mean they are out of the woods.
