Earlier we reported on the murder of a Nigerian security guard at the Biltmore Plaza. That happened early on Sunday morning. Hours later, a shooting took place on Mahogany Street. It did not turn deadly but, left one man hospitalized. The gunman has not been caught or identified by police, but what is known is that thirty-seven year old Mervin Polanco was wounded while he walked on Mahogany Street around five o’clock in the morning.  Polanco was taken to the K.H.M.H. where his condition was stabilized and he was treated for the injury caused by the single bullet that was fired at him. Police press officer, Clement Palacio, told us what the cops have been able to gather so far.

Clement Palacio, Police Press Officer

“On Sunday police responded and they arrived at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw Mervin Polanco with gunshot wounds. What happened was that he was walking on Mahogany Street and someone, a dark skin male person approached him and shot him.”

“Okay, does he know who that person is?”

Clement Palacio

“No, he gave a description of a person without a shirt, dark complexion but as we reported in our press release, there has been no suspect apprehended for this shooting incident.”

Delahnie Bain

“What injuries did Mr. Polanco sustain? ”

Clement Palacio

“He received a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest. ”

See what happens when you fill public offices with political cronies, exactly – NOTHING. So much for promised of getting rid of corruption! So much for putting Belize back on the right path! So much for moving us ahead! What us were our political leaders referring to (ohhhh the first family US!)

crime is not only a political issue, its a personal one. Many of us know the bad guys and ignore their crimes only to have it turn up on our doorstep. If we wait for the government to fix all the problems, we’ll die doing so.

  3. Stories like that makes me personally so sad, I understand it is really cleache to say if we are able to all just get along, but how much more of this stuff are we gonna endure?
