“Well, they gave us complete cricket equipment; bats, balls, pads, wickets, and all necessary armor to play the game, to play it effectively and play it well.”

Jose Sanchez

“It’s a game that’s normally played in the villages, do you think it’s something the students will go for?”

Samuel Sukhnandan

“I think so that cricket being a global sport, the second most popular sport in the world, hopefully it will take off in Belize and not just be game that is played just in the rural but it would be played in the entire country of Belize and particularly among the secondary schools in our country.”

Jose Sanchez

“Is it going to be part of the sporting program or is it after school that you’re going to use it for?”

Samuel Sukhnandan

“It will be part of the sporting program and hopefully there can be a competition that can take place after the donation of gears and possibly we can work with the Belize National Cricket association. The value of the donation, I was told, was in the vicinity of sixty-four thousand Belize dollars and we want to sya thanks to the governor general who really made this donation possible, who is a cricket enthusiast and we want to be thankful and grateful.”

Several high schools received complimentary cricket bats at today’s handing over ceremony.
