New Contractor General and Ombudsman sworn in
There are two appointments in government to report tonight that had become vacant with the change of government. A release from the Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly, states that the Governor General this afternoon took the oath of allegiance from Godwin Arzu and Cynthia Pitts. Arzu will fill the post of Contractor General and Pitts has been officially now appointed to the post of Ombudsman. And even though there is a gender issue, Pitts prefers to be called by the title of Ombudsman. According to the release, Arzu is a trained Attorney and has worked in both the public and private sectors. Pitts, also an attorney, has served in the office of the D.P.P., as a Judge of the Family Court and until recently was working out of the Cynthia Pitts Law Firm. The two constitutional appointments got the nod from the Senate when it met on December eighteenth, 2008 in Belmopan.
