Meanwhile, the swelling on Ahmad’s brain has receded enough to allow doctors at the Karl Heusner Memorial to perform a cat scan today. The procedure was set for Friday but the youth’s positive response to medications to reduce the swelling afforded doctors the chance to find out earlier what his chances are. That will be made known to his parents early on Friday. Doctors had initially said that he stood only a five percent chance of surviving the bullet wound to his brain. Since the incident, Ahmad has remained brain dead and on a ventilator.
