Four shooting incidents in the city since Thursday
While the shocking murder of Teddy Murrillo was top on the crime blotter, there was much more violence in the city streets that, fortunately, were not fatal. The bloodshed started last Thursday night when thirty year old Eric Martinez was shot as he rode his bicycle on Yorke Street. Martinez was approached by two men that he recognized and they stood at the corner of Lancaster Street and fired several shots at him as he passed. Only one bullet hit Martinez, wounding his right leg and landing him in the trauma room of the K.H.M.H., where the police found him to take his statement.
And as the weekend progressed, the cops made three more trips to the K.H.M.H. trauma room. Next to be targeted was twenty-five year old Tulio Caseres, who was shot on the left thigh as he drove on Water Lane just before eight on Friday night. As Caseres reached the corner of West Canal his vehicle was riddled with bullets; one of them injured his leg. He was rushed to the K.H.M.H. for treatment.
The violence continued on Saturday night and the repercussions got worse because the next shooting victim, twenty-seven year old Garry Wade, suffered four bullet wounds. Wade and a friend were riding on separate bicycles in the Port Loyola area around nine o’clock in the night when they noticed they were being followed by two other men. When they reached the corner of Gill and Baracat Streets one of the men pulled out a weapon and opened fire on the two. His friend escaped but Wade was hit to the lower back, left leg, right calf and left foot.
Just two hours later, at five minutes to eleven, nineteen year old Hansel Arnold was blasted with two gunshots to the abdomen and pelvic area in a drive-by shooting. Arnold was reportedly standing on East Canal when he became the target of the occupants of a passing vehicle. He joined the other three shooting victims at the K.H.M.H. and the police have their hands full after the weekend of violent crimes.

Really shocking to know that Teddy got shot. I knew the young man and he was a shy and quiet guy. Not the rowdy type. Just quiet and like to make jokes and have someone laugh. Too sad. My condolences to the family. This wickedness in this world will soon end. Danalyn and family, have courage. Teddy is sleeping for just a little while. Jesus will soon return to end it all and there will be no more crying and sorrow.
I cannot belive these Jerks did not even give insight on Teddy’s murder. Teddy harmed no one, and everyone knows by now it is a police officer that killed him. I want to see that police officer stripped of his uniform and thrown in jail like the animalistic, cowardly bastard he is.
TODAY I LOOKED UP THE MEANING OF A(n) Police OFFICER & what they are trained to do, in methods of law enforcement and crime prevention and detection and authorized to maintain the peace, safety, and order of the community…….that is what was written down!! I CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE OR SO CALLED “”” HUMAN BEINGS “” COULD BE SO HEARTLESS & DO SUCH A THING LIKE THIS!!! I MEAN WHERE IS THIS MAN OR POLICE OFFICERS HEART PLACED?? ALLL I CAN DO IS ASK QUESTIONS AFTER QUESTIONS!!! TEDDY IS MY COUSIN I GREW UP WITH HIM FOR ABOUT 8 YEARS & WHEN I HEARD ABOUT HIS DEATH ALL THE WAY IN NEW YORK I WAS SHOCKED, IN TEARS, BALLING MY EYES OUT … I JUST COULDNT BELIEVE IT. I REMEMBERED HIM COMING OVER MY GRANNYS HOUSE & I REMEMBERED THE MANY TIMES WE PLAYED HIDE & SEEK , TAG ETC. >>> FORGiVENESS IS THE SWEETEST REVENGE THEY SAY BUT WHEN IT COMES TO A CRIME LIKE THIS MY HEART TAKES LONG TO FORGIVE & FORGET, IT CAUSES HATE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU THAT LOVE ONE & YOU KNOW WHAT GOOD TYPE OF PERSON THEY ARE!!! . NOW WHEN I THINK OF POLICE MEN I DON’T SEE THEM AS GOOD OR INNOCENT people trying to PREVENT BADD ISSUES OR CONFLICTS …, I SEE THEM AS DECEIVING AND ITS A DAME RIGHT DESGRACE!!! .SHAME ON THIS POLICE!! BEFORE I GO TO BED EACH DAY I PRAY FOR ALL MY FAMILY IN BELIZE … I LOVE THEM, THEY ALWAYS LOOKED OUT FOR ME & ONE ANOTHER ..ALWAYS & THEY’RE VERY GOOD PEOPLE!!! LIKE THE SONG IN CHURCH SAYS LOVING AND FORGIVING U SHOULD WE SHOULD ALL BE …SLOW TO ANGER QUICK IN KINDNESS IS SO HARD TO FOLLOW…. AND GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF THOSE WHO KILL INNOCENT !!!!! IM DONE … JUST THINKING OF THE SITUATION PISSES ME OFF SO BADD !!!!!

Today people are safe from bullets, tomorrow, then what?
more patrol is needed, more decent police on the streets, not the cop killers.
Vivian, I feel your pain, Teddy did not deserve to be shot down in cold blood by this cop like that. the cop is a ….., he didn’t even face Teddy instead he shot him I the back seven times. The Belize government needs to do something about the wild police they have on the street.
It has been a tradition in our family t o support the national independence party wich one of my grand uncle Hurbert Fuller was a big part of and I had a lot of hope and pride riding on our present prime minister and although he cannot be blame for all the slaughter in our country ,he has to be held accountable for the people in his government,especially the police force which is the poorest excuse for law enforcement,although there are officers who are lawmen at heart, then there are those who is a total disgrace to the uniform they wear and witnesses who are so intimidated that these cases are a sham,people keep saying God will take care of them,this is not Gods job this is the job of law enforcement officers,then there is this nonesense of one prosecuter, and whoever she or he is ,is as useless as tits on a Boar hog.I am not suggesting it
but soon people will start taking matters into their own hands, maybe the people should revolt and call for early elections and change the government it can’t be worse than what we have.
