International conman charged for one of many offenses

Milos Gaspar
An international conman who was caught in Belize last year February was sentenced to three years in prison on Thursday. Forty-four year old Milos Gaspar received his current sentence in Kansas but he has left traces of his deceit across the entire Atlantic Ocean. His modus operandi was to rent a mobile home or a yacht, flee to another country, sell the vessel and rent another before his next escape. He rented a forty-one foot yacht in the Canary Islands in 2006 which he never returned. He found his way across the ocean and rented a million dollar yacht, the Ishtar, on the island of Martinique. In February of 2009, he slipped passed the authorities in Venezuela before mooring the Ishtar at Old Belize. It just so happens that the co-owner of Old Belize, Francis Woods, is an active member of Crime stoppers Belize. He checked on the vessel which was already stripped of any identifying marks, and Gaspar and two of his three passengers were arrested. He was extradited from Belize on April seventeenth, 2009. But guess what the three year sentence Gaspar received this week had nothing to do with any of the yachts. He was sentenced for failing to return a Coachman Santara RV in 2002 which was worth one hundred and sixty thousand dollars. The RV was never found.
