Ahmad Nah’s miraculous recovery from pellet gun injury

Doctors gave him only a five percent chance to survive a shooting, but he beat the odds and is now back at home. Ahmad Nah was hospitalized since February twenty first and finally last week, when he had made progress, he was released to go home. News’ Five Delahnie Bain met the young man at his home in Roaring Creek and has this report.

Less than a month ago, nineteen year old Ahmad Nah was shot in the head with pellet gun and was left brain dead. He had only a five percent chance of survival, but his family held strongly to their faith and kept him in their prayers. Today we found Ahmad at his home in Roaring Creek and while he is not a hundred percent better, he has come a long way.

“How are you feeling being at home?”

“Feels good.”

“Are you feeling any better since you left the hospital?”

Ahmad Nah

“Yes ma’am.”

Delahnie Bain

“And what is it like now for you doing the day to day things at home? Is it difficult?”

Ahmad Nah

“No ma’am.”

Theodoro Nah, Ahmad Nah’s Father

“To us it’s been a joy to have him back home even though he’s not a hundred percent, just to have him back is a joy for us.”

According to Ahmad’s father, Theodoro, the road to full recovery will be a long one, but he is sure that his son will reach a hundred percent.

“He still have a slight swelling in the brain and it will take time for him to recover so it’s a slow process from here onward. We have to go back to Doctor Ryo on the twenty-third of this month for a follow up checkup and from there he will tell us when we need to go back again.”

“And he doesn’t have—since he’s been home—any pain or discomfort or anything that you would have to take him back to the hospital?”

Theodoro Nah

“No, because we have him on medication right now so no pain.”

While the accident that almost killed him has changed Ahmad’s life, it also presents changes for his family.

“There have been a lot of sleepless nights because he would wake up and want to go outside and things like that so it’s quite tough on us because we have to change everything all over again and it’s like a kid; we have to teach him everything. For example, he can’t be in the sun and that’s one of his main things; playing basketball or football so that is out of the list noh and he cannot do. He’s a young kid and he’s a strong fellow and the prayers from the people around the world, that pulled him through. I just would ah want encourage the public fi continue pray fi ah because prayers move mountains and with the prayers he will get there.”
